Shannon Ditte is the author of the Angel Eyes trilogy She has an overactive imagination and a passion for truth Her lifelong journey to combine the two is responsible for a stint at Portland Bible College, performances with local theater companies, and an affinity for mentoring teen writers.Since 2013, Shannon has taught mentoring tracks at a local school where she provides junior high and high school students with an introduction to writing and the publishing industry She blogs weekly for Go Teen Writers, posting instruction and encouragement for aspiring authors while emphasizing the importance of community. The Sorting Hat placed Shannon squarely in Slytherin House, which was quite the shock Her husband, Matt, is Gryffindor through and through, and together with their two children Ravenclaw and Gryffindor they make their home in Northern California, with a Husky mix named Leonidas, who may or may not be an Animagus.Shannon s stories often feature strong female leads grappling with fear and faith, as they venture into the wilds of the unknown In many ways, she s writing her own life story Shannon is represented by Holly Root of Root Literary.

  • This is a review for the entire Angel Eyes trilogyThis series was absolutely amazing My mind was and still is totally blown away I d heard good things about it before, but I never really took it to heart But now I wish I had My copy of Angel Eyes sat on my shelf, gathering dust, for almost two years before I actually read it shame head desk Better late than never though, right Okay, so here s the short version The Angel Eyes trilogy oozes with uniqueness, gorgeous prose, flawless writing, and ch [...]

  • The story began a few months after the warehouse incident in Angel Eyes.New characters were introduced and it seemed that Brielle s life was spiraling downward Her dad started drinking and seeing a young woman Jake appeared to be hiding something and it didn t really help when Brielle could see fear forming and dripping from Jake s chest with her supernatural sight Not only were the waking hours challenging, Brielle also experienced horrendous nightmares when she slept at night As Brielle strugg [...]

  • Review by Jill WilliamsonBrielle and Jake are growing closer, but her father doesn t like it doesn t seem to like Jake at all Brielle is certain it s because of Jake s faith, but there seems to be something that her father isn t saying And then her dad starts dating Olivia Brielle doesn t approve It s just a feelings she has But feelings aren t enough to convince her dad of anything, so all she can do is stand by and watch and pick up the pieces if things go bad.Meanwhile, Jake still doesn t kn [...]

  • AAHHH I am going to have to start on book 3, like, TODAY This ended on a sort of cliffhanger, so I ll have to read book 3 soon This book was beautiful, amazing, AGGHH Already I love this trilogy I don t know what to say, except, READ THIS SERIES, LIKE RIGHT RIGHT NOW Clean rating some bloody fights.

  • Source I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read to review basis Thanks to Thomas Nelson publishers and Netgalley This is book 2 in the Angel Eyes series, and kicks off not long after the end of book 1.After the show down at the end of book 1, Brielle is still living with the halo protecting her and warding off nightmares, and Jake is also doing his best to protect her They now attend church regularly, much to Brielle s father s disappointment, and Brielle continues to see the ce [...]

  • Sabres I look carefully at the angels before us They re larger than any I ve seen before, and brighter I count them on approach a dozen and then I watch them, trying to understand their movements Light curls around them, tendrils of incense rising into the sky What are they doing Jake asks They re worshiping, I say awestruck Is there a rhyme or reason to where they ve positioned themselves Some of them kneel, some of them stand staggered across the rock, but the one thing they all seem to have [...]

  • It s been too long since I ve read this I had forgotten so much I can t really explain why I love this series so much I ve reread the first book so many times, so I m trying to reread the entire series this year.

  • I am always on the look out for books about angels They have become one of my favorite otherworldly creatures I jumped at the chance to host the Broken Wings tour and I m glad I did I found the beginning of Angel Eyes a bit slow going as I tried to figure out what was going on with Brielle and why she was so sad and felt guilty about a friend s death One thing I will mention is how tired I am of the new kid at school and the main character sharing this instant connection with as it turns into, m [...]

  • Broken Wings is a magnificent revelation that gives us both a blessed peace and a stark peak into the heart of our loving Creator His plan is perfect even if we don t understand it The darkness and the unknown scare us We long for reassurance and clarity, but it s our faith that should lead us and not our emotions What a wonderful encouragement to my faith to be told over and over just how much our God loves us Brielle s life changes around her at a pace that she isn t ready to handle Her once s [...]

  • Jake and Brielle s story continues in this second installment of the Angel Eyes Trilogy Once you ve seen, you can t unsee Everything changes when you ve looked at the world through GEL EYES That is the first line of the synopsis of book one, Angel Eyes, and I think it describes Brielle better than any words I could write, because that is exactly what Brielle can do It is her gift She is able to see into the celestial realm with her own eyes, into the realm of angels and demons At first she was o [...]

  • He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge His truth shall be your shield and buckler Psalms 91 4 Oh my goodness I just finished reading Broken Wings, the second book in the Angel Eyes series When it came in the mail I fell in love with the beautiful cover Who doesn t love a book with a gorgeous cover After reading the first page I was swept away from reality back to Oregon go continue this amazing journey with extraordinary characters This book is utterly st [...]

  • I liked this YA Novel that reminds me a bit of Frank Peretti s This present Darkness for a new generation I think we all need the reminder that there is than what we can see with our eyes I d recommend it for older teens and adults For some reason I didn t find this and the first in the series as scary as Frank Peretti s books I d say the first in the series was darker subject matter than this one.

  • Follows the first book very well, picks up where you left off and it s very exciting To be honest I still loved the first book , probably because it s the first one I read and I wasn t able to grab this book for a while so I ve read book 1 but this one is still very good and the writing reminds me a bit of a mild Ted Dekker, you feel the suspense and excitement, but in a way that if you read it at night you don t have to have a light on.

  • Note In addition to literary criticism, this review is heavily influenced by my own religious beliefs So if you re not Roman Catholic, then reading on might result in a bit of confusion Or anger.3 stars One thing s for certain I liked the first book, Angel Eyes, much better For a number of reasons. This one was not aswell paced in the first half It was slow, and then as the mystery of everything starts to build, it gets interesting The plot moves forward While there wasn t a ton of action in the [...]

  • A copy was received for review purposes WOW I almost never have the same if not better feelings about the second books in a series I m sure all of you have heard of or experienced what is known as the second book syndrome Where the second book takes a slight dive and doesn t bring out the same reactions in a reader as the first one does WELL This book definitely is not prone to that syndrome because it was a breathless and capturing read I m still not sure how to sum up my feelings entirely beca [...]

  • Shannon Ditte in her new book Broken Wings Book Two in the Angel Eyes Trilogy published by Thomas Nelson takes us into the life of Brielle and her fight against spiritual forces. From the back cover Giant angels with metal wings and visible song A blind demon restored from the pit of darkness And a girl who has never felt broken.Brielle sees the world as it really is a place where the Celestial exists side by side with human reality But in the aftermath of a supernatural showdown, her life begin [...]

  • After the pleasant surprise I enjoyed reading Angel Eyes, I hoped the sequel would at least be as good Author Shannon Ditte met my higher expectations in spades There was even colorful creativity, emotional depth, and spiritual meat here than in the previous book, with higher personal stakes, and a finale that left me breathless.I must stress again how this genre is not my usual cup of tea But the author was able to persuade even a cynic like me to believe with her amazing prose It s elegant, e [...]

  • As seen on Ed and Em s Reviews I ve said it before and I ll say it again I don t like angel books Now, I know what you are thinking Why did you pick up Broken Wings if you don t like angel books The answer is because I was extremely impressed with the first book in this series, Angel Eyes I decided to read Broken Wings because though this is a pretty religion oriented novel, it is handled tastefully and the story is compelling beyond the religious aspects. In Broken Wings, Brielle and Jake are in [...]

  • Spiritual warfare is happening over the town of Stratus, Oregon, in this much anticipated sequel to one of my favorite books of 2012, Angel Eyes The Prince of Darkness is after Brielle, the girl who can see through the celestial veil into the world of angels He s also hunting Jake, Brielle s boyfriend, on whom God has bestowed the gift of healing Once again we re in for heavenly battles as good truly battles evil.It was such a joy to see how much Brielle has grown from one book to another Having [...]

  • And then I smelled it For the first time ever, I smelled adoration I smelled worship Deep and earthy And sweet Like the lily of the valley that blanketed Gram s front lawn, the fragrance spread through the sky with the intensity of her praise I wondered if she had any idea how sweet her devotion was to the heavenlies How fragrant, how honeyed, how pleasing.Broken Wings picks up a few months down the track from Angel eyes Brielle is still trying to learn her way around her increasing celestial si [...]

  • Broken Wings is the exciting second installment in the Angel Eyes trilogy that continues as Brielle continues to deal with the fact that there are actually such things as Celestial beings, that they live right beside humans in the world, and the scariest truth she can see it all On top of this reality and after her showdown of supernatural proportions, Brielle s life is starting to suck even worse Things at home have gone from bad to worse with her father and his new girlfriend and things betwee [...]

  • Broken Wings is the second novel in the trilogy which just came out this past February The third and final novel, Dark Halo, will be available August 20, 2013 Although I committed to an honest review of the second novel in the series, I made sure to read the first one first Angel Eyes was good, but in my opinion, Broken Wings was better This author bravely tackles the realm of angels and demons much like Frank Peretti in This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness Demons feature in many curr [...]

  • Broken Wings is the anticipated second novel in Shannon Ditte s Angel Eyes trilogy Ditte employs powerful imagery in Broken Wings and digs deeper into the celestial realm of angels and demons There are scenes that I can only describe as chilling, and sometimes I had to limit my reading to the daylight hours versus bedtime From the first scene, set in the dark depths of Abaddon, a sense of foreboding begins to thread its way through the pages The forces of evil are stronger and prevalent, but t [...]
