  • I have to admit, I picked these three up because it seemed funny I didn t even read the synopsis Once I started reading, literally the first review, I had to then begin reading aloud to my husband who began to laugh and quite loudly at that until he begged me to let him get a few breaths in Although not every review is quite THAT funny, it s an enjoyable read And one that put many smiles on my face There were even some people that I was looking forward to their reviews, like Brian, because you j [...]

  • I ll be honest and say that I prefer novels above anything else so I found the format to this a little different However, the author should be applauded for having an excellet and original idea There were times when reading this that I did laugh out loud, much to the consternation of my wife who was probably reading some romantic vampire related nonesense at the time.Original, interesting, different, funny What do you need Give it a read

  • A brilliantly original way to tell a story The novel is a collection of product reviews for products that are really available on the internet click on the links, they work This collection of reviews weave together the lives of a small group of people in a rural village in England.A quick read with some genuine laugh out loud moments.

  • A collection of short stories in the style of item reviews that entwine into one larger story revolving around life in a small village Easy to read but with a few plot holes and some of the individual stories need an ending.

  • What happens when idiots buy things online This book Sortwell uses a series of reviews to tell the story of several villagers over the course of a year It is actually quite funny and at times, strangely, touching Especially, if you channel Monty Python while reading it.

  • This is a real laugh out loud book, although it s difficult to laugh out loud when there s a small person trying to sleep upstairs A story told within reviews, and yep I can spot the village idiot in my village.just hope it s not the idiot village

  • A lovely, light read, and silly as the concept is, I realized on finding out that the author has written a sequel that I m glad, because I do actually want to find out what happens next with this bizarre characters.

  • Well, this is something Highly entertaining read from various points of views I have never read anything like it.

  • A record holder I ve never abandoned a book so quickly, it took only a few pages to decide it is not for me It is certainly well named.

  • Excellent idea butThis is such a great idea of a way to write a book The author has found lots of ordinary and some obscure items on and has told a story of village life through a series of reviews on Ingenious The item pages in the book even include a photo of the article in question and a link to the page at So far so good.but it s just not quite good enough I really don t like giving bad reviews and I must say I have really enjoyed the author s boxed set Diary of an expectant father Diary [...]

  • Join Brian, as he tries to woo the girl that works in the local shop, will passing out face down in super glue while trying to make her a gift hinder his chances of getting her to go out with him Will Father Frederick, an alcoholic vicar who has a slight issue with stalking be able to win back the heart of a woman he loved a long time ago And will Ethel, who thinks that throwing hard rice instead of confetti in a Bride Groom s face is an acceptable form of sport, be able to catch whichever one o [...]

  • I read listened to this in audio format via audible I always choose audios first as the narrators tend to breathe life into the stories and in this case breathe laughs too This book is so funny, you will laugh your butt off or maybe fall down face first in something undesirable lol This book is about poking fun at village idiots They do such dumb things it make you just want to say IDIOT The funniest part to me was a problem with a certain pump, OMG and then there was the drunks The guy who scra [...]

  • Lighthearted Based on fictitious reviews of products available to buy on with links attached to each item The Village Idiot Reviews give an insight into a village full of idiots with each reviewer having a link to another along the way so there is a thread of a storyline throughout It s quite easy to picture each character from the alcoholic reverend to the hapless Brian who had a bowel accident at the funfair Lighthearted humour quick to read and raised a few smiles

  • A while ago I read The Office Idiot Reviews and I wasn t too impressed I decided to give The Village Idiot Reviews a go as it s a quick read and maybe I d enjoy it than the previous book Admittedly, The Village Idiot Reviews did get two or three good chuckles out of me, but I was still put off by the toilet humor and below the belt humor which I had hoped would be less or non existent in this book I did enjoy the characters and some of their antics, especially Denny s But yes, they re all truly [...]

  • I rarely giveaway one star rating, but didn t feel could give this any I only finished it because I was stuck for so etching to read during a bout of insomnia The idea of telling a story through a series of reviews is a good one, but none of the characters are sympathetic, there is little thought given to developing different review styles for the different characters and the low toilet humour is puerile and boring Find something else to read.

  • This is a compilation of reviews but people who in all honesty must be complete idiots There is nothing normal about these people and I found them hilarious The content is great, the pace is great, the book is great The narrator is also great to listen to He has a number of great accents and uses expression to really show what idiots some of these people are.I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

  • Awful book Have read lots of book s just like this, and this is the most boring and unfunny thing i have ever read In fact it is so bad i got 25% that was a struggle through and had to stop reading it as i was quickly losing the will to live. The Reviews are simply not funny, and a lot of them don t seem to a point. The author should be refunding my money. If i could give half a star i would.

  • This was a fun, fast read.I liked it a lot It was interesting to have all the stories of the village picked up by different people. The narrator,Chris Dabbs was perfect for this project.I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the books by this author.I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

  • I freaking love this book I can t wait to listen to the sequel Fans of Brit wit , and people who like to read reviews, will totally appreciate this compendium of reviews which, separately, are hilarious, and together, tell a story of a small village of very strange and funny people The narrator totally nailed it Love3

  • This is without doubt the funniest book I ve read in years The whole idea of a story based entirely on reviews is really new, but everything knits together superbly The most original idea since the Henry Root letters, which was also brilliant I couldn t stop myself laughing out loud, even with tears rolling down my cheeks Denny is an absolute masterpiece.

  • Really, really dull The basic idea is pretty original and very good there are some hilarious product reviews on and writing a novel through them could work well Sadly, here it doesn t There s the occasional chuckle but they re few and far between A better writer may have been able to make this work, but it falls well short of the mark.

  • Shades of Tom Sharpe, League of Gentleman If you like madcap humour from a writer who thinks outside the box with such an original idea, you won t fail to like this one Take it on holiday and read it on the plane.

  • Read the reviews on this book, which were very good, so I thought it would be so much better than it was, I was expecting it to be funny entertaining Sadly didn t even raise a smile Not my thing at all.

  • It s interesting to me how much easier it is for me to not finish ebooks as opposed to physical books Out of sight out of mind, I suppose, especially with lackluster titles like this one Not my kind of comedy, I guess.
