  • I read this as a beta reader, received from the author.Mel is going home Home, as in, home town, where she was raised Its scary, but long over due Its a fresh start A new start A chance to be who she wants to be But that, in itself, is scarier than anything she s ever done.I have NO CLUE where to begin The characters are easy to relate to I loved them, laughed with them, cried with them And not just any cry out and out ugly cry that had my husband laughing at me I d laugh out loud and he d give [...]

  • This story is out of this author s writing style, but this just goes to show that a true author can write any genre Ms MacDughlas did just that She stepped out of her genre and wowed me from beginning to end This book was phenomenally written and extremely fast paced I had a really hard time putting this book down This story connected with me on so many levels I found myself connecting with the character and the plot of the story Granite, my story growing up was different but I was able to relat [...]

  • I could make this review very simple Buy the book, you will not regret it Oh Remember to read it too But I never did things the simple way, so I ll try and get my jumbled thoughts in order and explain what is so absolutely freaking awesome about Parting Burden Because it is awesome that is.Parting Burden is the kind of book that draws you in gently, tosses you around a few times and knocks you on the head for good measure , to spit you out on the other side with a book hangover of epic proportio [...]

  • This book is truly is one of those page turners that you just do not want to put down I started reading Parting Burden two days ago, and have already finished it This is a monster of a book, and I just could not let it sit Right from the start, I was captured by the characters that weave throughout the novel I felt like I was right there with them through everything At one point I even felt like I WAS them I was completely and utterly engrossed I felt every single emotion they did, and I would d [...]

  • This story was a bit slow, but Very interesting Mel, the main character, keeps getting thrown curve balls through out her life She was an average young lady Always trying to please her husband and his family Estranged from her own family due to life s past horrors She was living one day at a time, becoming someone she was not She felt trapped and had to get away Perfect timing for an accuse to leave her life behindMel s aunt had hurt herself and needs care She decided she would move back to her [...]

  • Melissa is good at running away This time she runs back home because her family needs her Follow Melissa as she leaves her fiance takes care of her Nana and the journey of people she knew in school along with her brother James This is a definite must read and would definitely recommend to everyone Congrats Sinead MacDughlas

  • Reads like a first draftI wish this would have been edited better I felt like the author could not decide if her characters were living in the early 1900 s or in this decade There were a few decent hooks that kept me reading, but ultimately I was disappointed and I feel little foolish for the time I invested.
