About “Rumiko Takahashi

  • Rumiko Takahashi

Rumiko Takahashi was born in Niigata, Japan She is not only one of the richest women in Japan but also one of the top paid manga artists She is also the most successful female comic artist in history She has been writing manga non stop for 31 years.Rumiko Takahashi is one of the wealthiest women in Japan The manga she creates and its anime adaptations are very popular in the United States and Europe where they have been released as both manga and anime in English translation Her works are relatively famous worldwide, and many of her series were some of the forerunners of early English language manga to be released in the nineties Takahashi is also the best selling female comics artist in history well over 100 million copies of her various works have been sold.Though she was said to occasionally doodle in the margins of her papers while attending Niigata Ch High School, Takahashi s interest in manga did not come until later During her college years, she enrolled in Gekiga Sonjuku, a manga school founded by Kazuo Koike, mangaka of Crying Freeman and Lone Wolf and Cub Under his guidance Rumiko Takahashi began to publish her first doujinshi creations in 1975, such as Bye Bye Road and Star of Futile Dust Kozue Koike often urged his students to create well thought out, interesting characters, and this influence would greatly impact Rumiko Takahashi s works throughout her career.Career and major works Takahashi s professional career began in 1978 Her first published story was Those Selfish Aliens, a comedic science fiction story During the same year, she published Time Warp Trouble, Shake Your Buddha, and the Golden Gods of Poverty in Sh nen Sunday, which would remain the home to most of her major works for the next twenty years Later that year, Rumiko attempted her first full length series, Urusei Yatsura Though it had a rocky start due to publishing difficulties, Urusei Yatsura would become one of the most beloved anime and manga comedies in Japan. In 1980, Rumiko Takahashi found her niche and began to publish with regularity At this time she started her second major series, Maison Ikkoku, in Big Comic Spirits Written for an older audience, Maison Ikkoku is often considered to be one of the all time best romance manga Takahashi managed to work on Maison Ikkoku on and off simultaneously with Urusei Yatsura She concluded both series in 1987, with Urusei Yatsura ending at 34 volumes, and Maison Ikkoku being 15.During the 1980s, Takahashi became a prolific writer of short story manga, which is surprising considering the massive lengths of most of her works Her stories The Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo, and Fire Tripper all were adapted into original video animations OVAs In 1984, after the end of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, Takahashi took a different approach to storytelling and began the dark, macabre Mermaid Saga This series of short segments was published sporadically until 1994, with the final story being Mermaid s Mask Many fans contend that this work remains unfinished by Takahashi, since the final story does not end on a conclusive note.Another short work left untouched is One Pound Gospel, which, like Mermaid Saga, was published erratically The last story to be drawn was published in 2001, however just recently she wrote one final chapter concluding the seriesLater in 1987, Takahashi began her third major series, Ranma Following the late 80s and early 90s trend of sh nen martial arts manga, Ranma features a gender bending twist The series continued for nearly a decade until 1996, when it ended at 38 volumes Ranma is one of Rumiko Takahashi s most popular series with the Western world.During the later half of the 1990s, Rumiko Takahashi continued with short stories and her installments of Mermaid Saga and One Pound Gospel until beginning her fourth major work, InuYasha While Ran

  • I love the unique way each of the characters stand out from each other, they all follow certain character types, but each of them are quite different from each other both in looks and in personality I feel that it really helps the story overall.I d also like to comment that Inuyasha s sword being too heavy for him reminds me of another scene, in Rurouni Kenshin Because of the pure weight and size of his newly fixed sword Inuyasha is having problems swinging the sword, it s a slower labored swin [...]

  • This review is for the series as a whole with 4.5 out of 5 stars This series is absolutely the longest series I ve ever read so far, with a total of 56 volumes containing 559 chapters Yeah right I grew up watching anime and when I stumbled to this one, I instantly got hook I m so in love with this anime that I have the complete anime series in my possession Yep It occupy mostly the memory of my external drive haha sucker I know And it s just now that I finally had the courage to read its manga I [...]

  • This review is for the series as a whole with a 3 star rating and will be included on every volume for my own organizing purposes This will probably be the longest review I ve ever written, and for that, I apologize I have a lot to say and despite the character limit, it will be said.InuYasha is honestly a classic in the sense that the anime is well loved, the manga is typically well loved, it was original ish when it was first published, but it went on way too long It s a 56 volume series, sitt [...]

  • Sesshoumaru finds heals Jaken that sword smith takes the sword Toukijin, wanting to kill Inuyasha they fight Inuyasha luckily transforms back into his hanyou self defeats him but before they can do anything about the evil sword, Sesshoumaru comes takes the sword its evil energy starts disappearing he wants to fight Inuyasha to confirm something about him he smells that his blood is normal right now like a half youkai Inuyasha might ve transformed into his youkai self but Toutousai throws some fi [...]

  • Not as great as the last few Mostly because koga and inuyasha spend most the book bickering like small children _ funny, but over all it gets old fairly quickly Thing is, there are 50 some odd volumes in this series I d rather not waste nearly 200 pages on squabbling boys when it could be used to further the plot of this epic fantasy series The artworks great as usual and JTS well written, but it adds very little to the over all story arch In fact, you could probably skip the whole thing and not [...]

  • 4.5 star for InuYasha volume 17 A Brief OverviewSesshomaru s sword has overcome the golbin who would infuse it with evil It hungers for InuYasha who is currently swordless as he waits for his blade to be fixedSesshomaru decides to have a brief showdown with InuYasha to see what the funny smell was all about Kinda weird, but brothers eh Koga bumps into Naraku and his latest creationd promptly runs away Only he forgot something importantNaraku s new pet is set loose on InuYasha and the gang Fight [...]

  • What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past I don t know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world.I also really liked the group aspect to this series and the corresponding relationships that affect each of the characters.I would really recommend this series to fans of R [...]

  • It s the new moon, and Inu Yasha has lost his powers What a great time to fight someone possessed by their blade This volume also sees the return of Seshomaru, Inu Yasha s half brother Finally, Koga returns as he and Inu Yasha fight Juromaru, the vampire, praying mantis like demon creation of Naraku. As others have said, because of the episodic nature of this volume, it doesn t have the impact on the grand narrative, the way other books have But it is still a good read.

  • I really do enjoy these books The characters are fun, but the story is getting a little slow This is book 17 of 56 and it seems that it is just an endless back and forth with Naraku with Sessho maru thrown in to keep it spicy Its almost to the point of a kids cartoon You foiled us again Naraku, you naughty demon I hope this ends soon I cant take 40 books of this.

  • ugh, wats the drool about this feels like a side story all it s about is the fight w the spider thing and the drool.

  • Mais um dos putos de Naraku e pela primeira vez vemos InuYasha a ser obrigado a lutar em verdadeira simbiose Tamb m agrad vel ver Miroku fazer outras coisa para al m de Air Rip.

  • Decent entry into the series For whatever reason, I didn t enjoy this as much as most of the others, but probably because it had a one thing after another feeling.
