  • This book made entirely from recycled paper offers loads of facts information about global warming and climate change and how we can be part of the solution Tim Flannery s book dives deep into global pollution issues and includes a clear explanation of the carbon cycle along with greenhouse gases on Earth and in the atmosphere It also offers a clear look at the history of climate change, how matters will unfold over the next century, and what we can do to prevent a catastrophic future for oursel [...]

  • I am reviewing We Are the Weather Makers, a adaption by Sally Walker of Tim Flannery s 2001 The Weather Makers, which I have not read, and intended for a YA audience I did not realize that the book was geared for teenagers when I grabbed it off of a display at the local library, interested in an introduction to the current science behind climate change The slightly simplified writing and examples of projects and ideas for activities that teens or anyone, for that matter can do to help decrease t [...]

  • We Are The Weather Makers is a novel that explains the facts behind climate change in a format that is sometimes just right and sometimes drawn out not too far but far enough for slight boredom and loss of engagememt However, the book does quite a good job navigating the brittle world of climate change through many of charts and graphics The commentary on climate change is very scientific and accurate, and the writing is fairly good The book very well explains the possible situations that might [...]

  • Good unbiased account of the science behind climate change This young adult version was good but I wonder if its focus on application took away some of the structure of the book The best parts were in the middle talking about possible effects of a future influenced by climate change, with many interesting case study examples The book ends on some random dry chapters about alternative energies, but with no strong conclusion It just trails off and gives some examples of action taken by individuals [...]

  • Not bad Although the book can be a bit scientific and boring at times, it gives an unbiased account of climate change across the ages Painting a dismal portrait of today s environment, Flannery talks about the increasing number of endangered species as a result of Global Warming While i m not entirely certain about the imminent danger Global Warming poses, this books raises the caution flags to reduce our the U.S production of CO2 and begin focusing on conservation and cleaner energy Gas prices [...]

  • This is a well written account of global warming the evidence, the possible effects and the actions that can be taken to reduce them The book presents an alarming picture of the economic, political and environmental consequences of global warming The weakness in the book comes from its lack of detail in managing the increasing world wide consumption of fossil fuels, particularly from developing countries A comprehensive statistical analysis of energy needs compared to growth prospects of world [...]

  • A reall inspiring book I would recommend it to anyone and everyone, even if they aren t passionate about the environment, because it is so moving and i think it has the ability to change the way bpeople think and live At times there were to many statistics, and it was hard to read, but by the end i was so interested and inspired by it that i couldn t stop reading it.

  • Note that this is a simplified adaptation of Tim Flannery s book It s still quite informative for an adult layperson, but the intended audience is High School upperclassmen. That s not abundantly clear from the book s cover, so I thought it was worth mentioning here.

  • This is one book that helped me really think about what s happening to our environment and how much we are not doing to save it We need people to read this book.

  • Adaptation of The Weather Makers for young readers with assistance from Sally Walker Interesting and informative but terribly dense content.

  • A great primer for those wanting to get behind the news headlines and understand what climate change is really about.

  • The first half of the book is good and lays out a very clear explanation of the case for man made climate change and the likely effects which I found very convincing.

  • Finally, a book on climate change which is easy to read and yet covers the science very well Now we all need to take action.

  • Very interesting book about climate change and its ramifications for human society Full of interesting facts, and very accessible science.
