  • The Anna Pigeon books are comfort food I always enjoy entering Anna s life and finding out about which National Park she will be working at In this story she is in Cumberland Island Park in Georgia as a Fire fighter, there with other Park Service employees just in case Also in the mix are the Loggerhead turtles, coming ashore during their annual migration to lay their eggs and as well, a plane crash and possible murder The story meanders through the mystery, Anna is lovely as ever I also liked t [...]

  • They re all turning into Dick Francis books to meSo many similar sounding titles that you discover you ve read them when you get home from the library and like Francis so so as mysteries gokeable characters.cially Anna PigeonLove the settings in our national parkse settings have compelled me to read of the series

  • This was a pretty good story Anna is sent to a National Park off the coast of Georgia for pre fire suppression and instead of a fire, there s a plane crash And the plane was sabotaged. And, as usual, Anna figures out who did it and the culprit tries to kill her Never fails I enjoyed the story Moving on to the next one.

  • Another good book in the Anna Pigeon series This time she s in Cumberland Island There were many layers to this and just enough characters to where it got hard to keep them all straight Good story and an exciting ending.

  • I love this mystery series Barr s Anna Pigeon novels are smart, gripping and well written, and Anna has grown on me Because Anna is a park ranger on various assignments across the U.S the stories introduce new places to visit and provide detailed descriptions of the local flora and wildlife Endangered Species takes place on Cumberland Island off the coast of Georgia, and readers will learn about the loggerhead turtle, feral hogs, golden orb spiders and chiggers in between murder and mayhem, of c [...]

  • Dual stories with FBI agent Stanton helping find the source of Molly s death threats while Ranger Anna Pigeon is finding out who caused a plane to crash in the Cumberland Island Park, Georgia.Stanton faces his romantic midlife inconsistencies by falling for Molly while Anna faces her needs for the solace she finds in spacious nature despite chiggers, ticks and weighty turtles Thus ends their affair of the heart After Anna is stuck inhaling an acre of burning marijuana she has a bleating fawn lea [...]

  • I liked it I m glad I put some space between the last book in the series that I read and this one, but I will some distance before the next one too The writing is good, I liked getting to know Molly better, and Anna continues to be an interesting character for me Well worth the time on a Sunday morning to read.

  • I always think of my mom when I read Nevada Barr books She got me hooked on the series This is a good, quick read Classic Anna Pidgeon mystery

  • A good mystery with some interesting plotting and beautiful description of the setting, but it s bogged down by a lame subplot and too many scenes that don t contribute to the storyline A good editor probably would have cut about 50 pages.Friends have repeatedly urged me to read Nevada Barr s series of books about park ranger Anna Pigeon, a pro at firefighting and an amateur sleuth, so I picked this one up at a used book store because the setting seemed intriguing Anna is part of a crew making b [...]

  • Good story I like that she mixes up stubbornness, bravery, and cravenness Anna Pigeon is not the easiest character to warm to, but enjoyably complex, as are the mysteries.I like that we got to meet Molly in person finally. The rest are spoilers so I ll hide em view spoiler Aw Frederick, that s a sad turn It s too bad it couldn t work with Molly I wonder if he turns up again in the series The Spider scene in the Mesa Verde book was just too priceless and I just plain liked Frederick.Zach s ashes i [...]

  • Another fun romp with Anna Pigeon.well, fun for the reader anyway I especially liked the side story of Frederick s interaction with Molly, Anna s sister The character, Dijon, gave me a chuckle I ll continue to read Barr s mystery series set in National Parks, National Monuments and Seashores, as I add destinations onto my ever growing list.

  • 5 in the Anna Pigeon series.Ranger Anna Pigeon mystery with the background of nesting loggerhead turtles on Cumberland Island National Seashore off the coast of Georgia, Anna investigates the deaths resulting from the crash of a drug interdiction plane.

  • In the fifth installment of the Anna Pigeon series we join park ranger, Anna, as she works on Cumberland Island off the Georgia coast While she is patrolling the area with another ranger they see smoke Cumberland Island is dried timber and vegetation just waiting to go up in seconds As they race to the source they find a drug interdiction plane has crashed killing both pilot and passenger They soon learn the passenger is not the passenger that was to be in the plane Join Anna and her fellow rang [...]

  • Having interesting and well depicted characters is usually good in a novel, but in this book it backfired, because the main character is about fifth or sixth on the list of who I d like to follow What s worse, we don t get to see much of the other characters relating to anyone but Anna The mystery aspect was okay, but different plot lines never fully came together There was also a discrepancy between whether ribbing from co workers was good natured camaraderie which draws people together, or whe [...]

  • The first Anna Pigeon story I ve read It s lightweight, for the most part, but fun for the Park Service details This time around she s assigned to an island as part of the fire suppression team, but her duties turn out to include wrangling giant turtles and solving the murder of the crew of a pot spotting plane Meanwhile, her ostensible boyfriend, an FBI agent, tries to assist Anna s sister, Molly, and promptly gets in over his head emotionally I m sorry The it s foesnt allow for half stars in r [...]

  • Did not enjoy this one in the series of audio books since it is narrated by someone new who is not as good as the previous reader In this one, Anna is on a South Carolina island helping to put out fires during the hot summer and she helps solve the mystery of who sabotaged a plane crash to kill a drug enforcement officer and a park ranger Keep mixing this one up with the next one Firestorm since there is so little to do with the endangered turtles it is named for.

  • I love how Nevada Barr shares National Public lands that I never knew existed Anna Pigeon s battles with chiggers, humidity, and the heat sounds very familiar to someone born and raised in the dry West The book opens with saving loggerhead turtles, what is not to like Lots of humor in this book, great winter read.

  • A bit too brief, not enough detail or connections made between folks It was kind of like reading an outline of a novel that needed a bit fleshing out That said, for fans of Anna Pigeon, it is still worth reading.

  • I m a big fan of Nevada Barr and the Anna Pigeon series, and this one does not disappoint Though the B story was wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly, the main storyline had plenty of puzzles and clues and an unexpected climax.

  • Haha Finished October 2015 Never recorded I ve read all the Anna Pigeon series by Nevada Barr and would recommend the series, each of which takes place in a different national park or monument However, this was my least favorite.

  • A good, well written crime detective type story line Nothing especially stunning that made this book stand out, but it was well written and had a decent plot.

  • I can only give this book 2 stars because the narrator was sooooooo BAD Note to author Stick with Barbara.
